On My Taking up College Online

UPON graduating from high school here in England, I’m faced with a dilemma. I’m actually working at a local McDonald’s here in our place and I don’t want to leave it just so I can take up college. My mom who’s been taking care of me as her only son since dad and she divorced has always been urging me to quit so that I could concentrate on my studies. But I simply couldn’t because of a lot of reasons.
My girlfriend is actually working at the same McDonald’s outlet and I love to continue seeing her everyday. Being in college simply means I can’t see her that often anymore because college is too far away from our place and I need to go to a boarding college if that comes to that. Besides, I need to sleep at home every night and take care of mom – she’s the only one in the house. I simply can’t entrust her to just any butler or maid and she doesn’t have any sister – an old maid – who can take care of her. In short, there’s no other alternative except to take an online college which I can say is pretty accredited anyway.
I mean, hello, I ought to know whether the online or correspondence college I should take is bogus or real. My future is at stake here and I’m not dumb. I’ll just become the laughing stock of my friends if I decide to take up college online and end up wasted and broke because the college turns out to be bogus. Bogus online colleges not only strip you of your dignity, they strip you of your money and time too. Imagine studying at 4 a.m. and paying tuition every month or so and in the end, someone is telling you that the college is bogus and your money is laundered somewhere else. Jeez, I can’t even imagine that.
When I told mom that I’m gonna be taking college online, she was first balking at the idea. She says it wasn’t ideal and that future employers hire only people who’ve graduated from conventional colleges. But I told her not to worry as online colleges are only beginning to take its trend and potential employers can see that too. I have also to explain to her about the whole situation at home where I have to fend my mother and also the situation with my girlfriend. Reluctantly, she agreed and even remarked how good I am as a son and as a person.
And so, I started doing the rounds of online research and get as much information as possible about the potential colleges and courses that I’m interested in. You see, upon graduation from high school, I had not made up my mind on what course to take. But considering my knack of writing, I guess I have to settle down to some English or literary course. Or perhaps I’m gonna be taking a communications or maybe a filmmaking course because I’m also fascinated at that stuff. Whatever my decision is, I’m sure I’ll be happy with it.
